| Description: |
Westminster High School is one of the finest college-preparatory schools and one of the very top small boarding schools in the nation. The challenging academic program, grounded in the liberal arts tradition, prepares students in grades 9-12 and postgraduates for academic success during the rigors of college while cultivating a love of learning to become a lifelong habit.
Known for record-breaking swimming and diving teams, the school was in dire need of a new swimming facility for swim team training, team practices, and swim meets. The existing facility was outdated, overcrowded, and unable to accommodate the school’s programming and activity needs.
In 2001, the team of Counsilman-Hunsaker and Graham Gund Architects was retained to design a world-class natatorium for the students to help keep pace with the school’s excellent swim program. Plenty of natural lighting floods the indoor pool with large wrap-around windows and beautiful coved ceiling with sky lighting.
The facility provides the latest in aquatic recreational design including:
•25-yard competition pool with eight lap lanes •Springboard diving •State-of-the-art electronic timing system and scoreboard •Home and visiting team locker rooms •Spectator seating
