| Description: |
In 2001, The City of Keller retained Brinkley Sargent Architects, in association with Counsilman-Hunsaker to perform a Feasibility Study for the development of a new recreation center to support the City’s competitive, recreational, and fitness needs and objectives. Four design concepts were developed, each with varying degrees of emphasis on aquatic and recreational program spaces.
From the Feasibility Study’s research and data report, the City chose to build a new indoor/outdoor recreation center. The community center houses a 6,490 SF indoor leisure pool which includes a waterslide, 200 SF whirlpool spa, fitness lap lanes, and play feature for children. Also included in the community center are a gymnasium, running track, fitness area, multi-purpose room, and administrative office space.
Amenities of the outdoor waterpark include:
• Waterside • Lazy river • Sprayground • Vortex • Interactive play features
This facility has been featured in the industry’s most prestige magazines:
• May 2007 – Parks and Rec Business magazine as a featured project. • May 2005, Recreation Management magazine was awarded the ‘Innovative Architecture Design’ award. • June 2006, Athletic Business magazine featured as an ‘Architectural Showcase.’
