Florida State University, Marine Science Research and Training Center, retained EMO/Architects as the lead architect for the design of the new multi-purpose outdoor aquatics facility at the site of the former Florida State University nursery located on Orange Avenue.
The athletic swimming and diving pool complex consists of a 6,500 sq. ft. public bath house facility and includes separate swimming and diving tanks that will be utilized by academics, athletics, and recreation.
Counsilman-Hunsaker was chosen as the lead aquatics designer for the swimming pool complex. The facility consists of:
•50-meter x 25-yard competition pool with water depths of 8’ to 9’ •Two 75’ wide bulkheads, eight long course lanes - 9’ wide, 16 short course lanes - 9’ wide, and 20 cross pool lanes - 7’ wide •75’ x 60’ diving pool with water depths of 14’ to 17’ •Diving tower with 1-, 3-, 5-, 7 ½-, and 10-meter diving
